Decision of the Charity Commission published on 31 January 2014.
The commission received a complaint from the ‘Stop the JNF’ campaign alleging that the charities were involved in violations of human rights and international law. The complaint asked the commission to remove the charitable status from the organisations. The commission concluded that the complainants were not eligible to apply for a review of charitable status but nevertheless the organisations are charitable and would stay registered.
This decision is significant because the commission considered an external challenge to the charitable status of established registered charities based on a complaint.
