JFD Hargreaves Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for an abstraction licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a borehole abstracting from the Lincolnshire Chalk aquifer at Low Farm, Thornton Curtis, Ulceby, DN39 6XL at National Grid Reference TA 09149 18721.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

60 cubic metres an hour

1,440 cubic metres a day

90,909 cubic metres a year
All year.
The water will be used as an additional source to fill a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation. It is intended that abstraction will take place during periods when groundwater flows through the aquifer are high.
The proposed abstraction lies within the area covered by the Grimsby, Ancholme and Louth Abstraction Licensing Strategy.
