Details

This report covers the work done in 2025 by the Jet Zero Taskforce Contrail Impact Mitigation Task and Finish Group, a sub-group of the Jet Zero Taskforce

The task and finish group’s work focused on operational methods with potential to mitigate the impact of contrails, in a way that can be implemented by and across the aviation stakeholder community.

Contrail impact mitigation refers to the strategies and technologies aimed at reducing the climate-warming effects of contrails (condensation trails) produced by aircraft engine exhaust emissions.

Although this group is affiliated with the Jet Zero Taskforce, the report is independent and does not reflect government policy. The report was drafted by the task and finish group, which was chaired by an industry representative and made up of representatives from across the aviation sector.
