James Woodroffe and Lisa Woodroffe T/A N Woodroffe and Sons has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from multiple drains in the North Level IDB area, at Thorney, Cambridgeshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 130 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,000 cubic metres a day
  • 55,000 cubic metres a year.

The water will be used for transfer to a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.

Further details are: the applicant is seeking to extend three existing reaches and add a further six reaches to the licence, all within the North Level IDB area.
