Details of the application

James Strathern and Catherine Strathern trading as JF and CM Strathern has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from an abstraction reach on the River Colne between National Grid References (NGRs) TL 93646 27392 and TL 94693 27309.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 165 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,000 cubic metres a day
  • 37,854 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation.
