J.A. Jones & Sons (Churchtown) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Crossens catchment.

The application is to vary a full licence to abstract water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 7.5 litres per second
  • 27 cubic metres an hour
  • 39 cubic metres a day
  • 7,098 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • between National Grid References (NGRs) SD 38423 20037 and SD 38604 20167
  • from abstraction location Railway Drain at Banks, Southport, Merseyside.

The water will be used for trickle irrigation.
