J Spilman, R Spilman, T Spilman and S Spilman trading as A J Spilman and Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from the Sherwood Sandstone at National Grid Reference SE 45944 67824, for the purpose of spray irrigation.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 58 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,200 cubic metres a day
  • 90,000 cubic metres a year
  • at an instantaneous rate not exceeding 16 litres per second
  • between March and October inclusive in each year.

The proposed abstraction lies within the Swale, Ure, Nidd & Upper Ouse Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area.
