J A Caton & Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 6/33/53/*S/0515 which authorises the abstraction of surface water consisting of River Nene (Old course) and unnamed drains within Ramsey First and Benwick Internal Drainage Boards, Ramsey, Cambridgeshire.

The variation applied for is to increase annual abstraction quantities only. Current abstraction quantities are 53.1 cubic metres per hour, 543.6 cubic metres per day, 11,820 cubic metres per year at an instantaneous rate of 15 litres a second, proposed varied abstraction quantities are 81,820 cubic metres per year with no change to daily, hourly or instantaneous rates. The variation is also to remove some of the abstraction reaches and replace with updated reaches.

All water abstracted under this licence is discharged first from Star Pit reservoir.
