Details

At its 43rd Plenary Session (Nairobi, Kenya, 11 to 13 April 2016), the IPCC Panel decided that the Seventh Assessment Cycle would include a Special Report on Climate Change and Cities to examine the impacts of climate change on cities, as well as their unique adaptation and mitigation opportunities.

Following an IPCC call for nominations of experts in August 2024, Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors and Review Editors for the Report were selected by the Working Group I, II and III Bureaux in December 2024 from the large number of nominations received.

The Special Report on Climate Change and Cities First Order Draft (FOD) was available for expert review from 17 October to 12 December 2025. The report has now been revised by the authors in response to comments received, and the Second Order Draft (SOD) will undergo simultaneous review by governments and experts.

Registration closes on 26 June 2026 at 9.59pm GMT.
