Guidance for local housing authority officers on how to use the investigatory powers granted under the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.

It covers procedures for requesting information from landlords and other relevant persons, entering business and residential premises with or without a warrant, and seizing documents. The guidance also outlines the use of council tax, housing benefit, and tenancy deposit information to support enforcement actions.

Local housing authority officers will be able to use these powers from 27 December 2025.
