The Interministerial Group on UK-EU Relations met on 3 December 2024. The meeting was chaired by the Paymaster General and Minister for the Cabinet Office Nick Thomas-Symonds MP.
The other attendees were:
- from the Scottish Government, Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture Angus Robertson MSP
- from the Welsh Government, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning Rebecca Evans MS/AS
- from the Northern Ireland Executive, First Minister Michelle O’Neill MLA and deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly MLA
Ministers discussed:
- the reset of UK-EU relations
- implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement and the Trade and Cooperation Agreement
Ministers agreed to update the IMG’s terms of reference to reflect the machinery of government change announced via Written Ministerial Statement HCWS19 on 24 July 2024, which moved responsibility for UK-EU relations from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to the Cabinet Office.
