The Net Zero, Energy and Climate Change Interministerial Group met on 6 March 2025, in Belfast. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, Andrew Muir MLA (Northern Ireland Executive).

What was discussed
The Interministerial Group discussed items on Biomethane; Local energy initiatives and benefits to communities; and also heard an update on the UK’s Carbon Budget 7, following the publication of the Climate Change Committee’s advice to the UK government on 26 February 2025.
The group also considered potential topics for discussion at future meetings and agreed updated Terms of Reference for the Interministerial Group.
