Details

If you hold an intensive pig and poultry environmental permit use this guidance. It explains how to comply with the conditions in your permit.

If you’re applying for or plan to apply for a new permit you’ll need to comply with new best available techniques (BAT) standards for intensive rearing of poultry and pigs. See the BAT conclusions published on the European Commission website. Contact the Environment Agency if you need advice.

To apply for or vary an environmental permit if you rear pigs or poultry intensively in an installation with more than 40,000 places for poultry, or 2,000 places for production pigs (over 30kg), or 750 places for sows see the:
