The Jalal Uddin Inquiry was established by the then Home Secretary on 9 November 2023 to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the murder of Jalal Uddin in 2016.

The statutory inquiry is chaired by His Honour Judge Teague KC.

The inquiry’s terms of reference are available on its website.

The report covers:

  • Jalal Uddin’s personal background
  • the events leading up to the night of 18 February 2016
  • his murder on that night
  • missed opportunities which might have prevented the attack
  • the police investigations into his death
