Injuries and assaults to SIA licence holders
Published 27 May 2026
Request
For the period 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024, provide:
- the total number of reported injuries to SIA-licensed operatives, broken down by job role if possible (for example, security guard, door supervisor, public space surveillance operative, close protection operative)
- the number of assaults reported to the SIA involving SIA-licensed operatives, including whether:
- physical injury occurred
- the incident was reported by the operative, employer, or third party
- any statistical datasets, incident summaries, or internal reports relating to harm, injury, or violence against SIA-licensed personnel in 2024
- information on whether the SIA collects injury-specific data from Approved Contractors Scheme (ACS) audits relating to staff safety
Response
The SIA partially holds the information you have requested. The SIA, as regulator of the private security industry, would not be the primary partner to investigate reported violence against security operatives. It is highly likely that many incidents are reported to the police that are not disclosed to the SIA. These figures are therefore not anticipated to accurately demonstrate the true prevalence of the issue.
Total number of reported injuries to SIA-licensed operatives
We attach a CSV file which shows the number of reported injuries to SIA-licensed operatives between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.
Number of assaults reported to the SIA involving SIA-licensed operatives
We attach a CSV file which shows the number of assaults reported to the SIA involving licenced operatives between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024. It is possible that duplicates exist within this data set as licence holders often have more than one type of SIA licence.
Statistical datasets, incident summaries, or internal reports

Data from ACS audits relating to staff safety
