Details of the application

Ingrebourne Valley Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from Taplow Gravel Formation at Wennington Quarry at National Grid References (NGRs) TQ 53816 81361, TQ 54298 81529, TQ 54476 81087 and TQ 54089 80968 to transfer it to a drainage ditch at Wennington Quarry at NGRs TQ 54057 81464 to TQ 54310 80995 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 309 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,468 cubic metres a day
  • 900,820 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The transfer of water is for the purpose of dewatering a quarry.

The application is also for a full licence to abstract water from the Taplow Gravel Formation at Wennington Quarry at NGRs TQ 53816 81361, TQ 54298 81529, TQ 54476 81087 and TQ 54089 80968.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 51 cubic metres an hour
  • 407 cubic metres a day
  • 48,814 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The abstracted water will be used for mineral processing, top up water and dust suppression.
