Summary of business appointments applications - Anthony Inglese

Updated 26 August 2015

Anthony Inglese left his role as Solicitor and General Counsel, HMRC, in February 2014.

1. Consultant, Simmons & Simmons

Anthony Inglese sought advice on accepting a role as a Consultant for Simmons & Simmons, an international law firm.

In considering the application, the Committee noted that Mr Inglese did not have any contractual dealings and was not responsible for people who had contractual dealings with his prospective employer during his last two years of service.

The Prime Minister accepted the Committee’s advice that the application be approved subject to the conditions:

  • for two years from his last day of service, Mr Inglese should not draw on privileged information available to him from his time as a Crown Servant; and
  • he should not become personally involved in lobbying the UK Government on behalf of his new employer or its clients.

The letter containing the final advice was sent in June 2015 and he took up the appointment in July 2015.

2. Director, The Boardroom Partnership

Mr Inglese sought permission to accept a role as Director of the Boardroom Partnership. His role would include involvement in executive search, mentoring, and coaching in the professional service sector.

The Prime Minister accepted the Committee’s advice that the application be approved subject to the conditions that:

  • Mr Inglese should not draw on privileged information available to him as a Crown servant; and

  • For two years from his last day of Crown Service, Mr Inglese should not become personally involved in lobbying the UK government on behalf of The Boardroom Partnership or its clients.

The letter containing the final advice was sent in February 2015 and he took up the role in May 2015.
