The department received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) requesting the following:-

1. The number of interpreters employed by the Central Interpreters Unit who speak a Kurdish language who applied for security clearance.

a) Of those in 1. above, the number who failed security clearance in respect of each year.

1. Information relating to the number of interpreters employed by the Central Interpreters Unit who underwent security clearance checks in each of the years 2002 - 2005 and to the extent that the information is available, 2006.

a) Of those referred to in question 2 broken down by year, the number who failed security clearance.
