The Home Secretary has appointed Sir Robert Buckland KC to lead an independent review into the death of Sir David Amess.

The review will set out aspects of this incident which the Amess family feel remain unaddressed.

This is to be done in order to:

• achieve a clear understanding of how the murder was able to happen

• identify lessons to be learned which have not been addressed

• recommend steps which can be taken to minimise the risk of a future tragedy
