The Environment Agency’s response to the Chancellor of the Exchequer on implementing the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce Review. It sets out the Environment Agency’s plans to improve the pace, predictability and proportionality of nuclear regulation while maintaining high standards of environmental protection and public confidence.

The Appendix A included with the letter provides detailed responses to the Chancellor’s questions, including:

  • actions to strengthen governance
  • improve regulatory coordination
  • support cultural change
  • deliver time and cost efficiencies across the UK nuclear programme

Together, the letter and appendix explain how the Environment Agency will support nuclear growth, energy security and sustainable development through regulatory reform.
