An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Hydrosense Renewables Limited. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from The River Avon at Nafford Weir at National Grid Reference (NGR) SO 94053 41815.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 28,800 cubic metres an hour
  • 691,200 cubic metres a day
  • 252,288,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for hydroelectric power generation.

Further details are: The scheme includes a fish pass next to the proposed Archimedes screw turbine and the provision of eel passage on the existing weir. All abstracted water will be passed around the existing sluices and is to be returned to the river roughly 30 metres downstream of the point of abstraction.
