Hundred Foot Washes Internal Drainage Board has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Old Bedford including the Middle Level catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 24,350 litres per second
  • 87,661 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,103,912 cubic metres a day
  • 767,928,299 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid References TL 56111 96947, TL 55143 95428, TL 53969 93582, TL 52852 91993, TL 51653 90417, TL 51184 89809, TL 50151 88460, TL 49780 87965, TL 48631 86471, TL 47640 85163, TL 46783 84045, TL 46481 83646, TL 45532 82487, TL 43064 80060, TL 42338 78795, TL 40923 76886, and TL 39775 75337
  • from abstraction location Hundred Foot Drain/New Bedford River at Downnham Market and Ely in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

The water will be used for Transfer for the purpose of Internal Drainage Board functions.
