Hugh Balcomb, Joan Balcomb, Colin Balcomb and Alan Balcomb trading as Norman Balcomb and Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a new full licence to replace an expiring licence number SO/040/0015/008 which authorises the abstraction of water from the inland water known as New Sewer at New Romney, Kent, between National Grid References (NGRs) TR 06012 26335 and TR 07094 26657 for the purpose of spray irrigation.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

54 cubic metres an hour

730 cubic metres a day

22,000 cubic metres a year

between 1 April and 30 September inclusive in each year.
Further details of the proposal are:

to add an additional abstraction reach between NGRs TR 07634 26843 and TR 08159 27006 to allow irrigation of additional land.

to aggregate the authorised hourly, daily and annual abstraction quantities across the two abstraction reaches.
