DfT commissioned this qualitative research into attitudes to HS2 in rural parts of the route outside the safeguarded zone. We wanted to better understand:

  • what influences people’s decisions to stay in the area or to leave
  • how knowledge of and eligibility for property compensation schemes may influence their decision-making
