There are 21 staff in total in the Home Office freedom of information (FOI) team, consisting of 1 Grade 7 (head of the team), 7 SEOs (information access consultants) and 13 HEOs (information access advisers). The team is the central source for FOI expertise in the Home Office and is responsible for providing advice and coordinating the department’s approach to freedom of information requests. The team also answers cross-cutting freedom of information requests, responds to Information Commissioner Office complaints and tribunal cases and has additional responsibilities in relation to Subject Access Requests and Data Protection.
