We have a received a number of requests under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on the following:
- Have there been any meetings between the Home Office and BERR to discuss Deep Packet Inspection Systems and their deployment?
- Any meetings by the above offices to discuss the legality of interception of transmissions by non-Governmental bodies?
- If so, what were the dates of the meetings and what was discussed?
We released the following information on 20 October 2010.
The European Commission has corresponded with the UK Government on the subject of Targeted Online Advertising. The Home Office and BERR, along with other Government departments, met to produce a Government response to the European Commission on 05 August 2008 and 26 January 2009.
