In the Road Investment Strategy the government committed £100 million to improve air quality through to 2021. This strategy sets out Highways England’s approach and activities to achieve this goal.

These activities will draw on its expertise and knowledge to explore innovative ways to improve air quality around its network and beyond. Through this work it will deliver a cleaner network and improve the health of its neighbours and customers.

This strategy is designed to communicate Highways England’s approach to key stakeholders as it drives forward its work to improve air quality. The company is keen for partners to help it solve these air quality challenges and work with it to implement the solutions.
