Henley Bridge Works 2024: river restriction notice

Details
Repairs to Henley Bridge will be carried out in three phases.
You should keep to a safe speed and be aware of other boats near the bridge.
You are responsible for avoiding collisions. You should use all available means appropriate to the situation to avoid risk.
All directions as to the left and right side of the river are given looking upstream.
Phase 1, Monday 14 to Wednesday 23 October 2024
The centre arch will be closed to all boat traffic.
The headroom of the larger two arches is approximately 12cm or 5” less than the centre arch. The maximum headroom during Phase 1 will be approximately 4.22m or 13’10” above standard water levels. River levels fluctuate and this distance will change with the river conditions.
Boats heading downstream should keep to starboard as normal and use the two arches on the Remenham, Wokingham, left side of the river.
Boats heading upstream should keep to starboard as normal and use the two arches on the Henley, Oxfordshire, right side of the river.
Phase 2, Thursday 24 October to Tuesday 5 November 2024
The two arches on the Remenham, Wokingham, east, left side of the river will be closed to all boat traffic.
Large boats should continue to use the centre arch with caution in both directions.
Boats heading downstream should use the centre arch with caution, as large boats may be travelling through the arch in the opposite direction.
Boats heading upstream should keep to starboard as normal and use the two arches on the Henley, Oxfordshire, right side of the river.
Phase 3, Wednesday 6 to Friday 22 November 2024
The two arches on the Henley, Oxfordshire, west, right side of the river will be closed to all boat traffic.
Large boats should continue to use the centre arch with caution in both directions.
Boats heading downstream should keep to starboard as normal and use the two arches on the Remenham, Wokingham, left side of the river.
Boats heading upstream should use the centre arch with caution, as large boats may be travelling through the arch in the opposite direction.
Byelaws
This notice does not supersede any parts of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 and the UK Merchant Shipping (Distress Signals and Prevention of Collisions) Regulations 1996. You should pay particular attention to byelaws 24 to 42 of the Thames Navigation Licensing and General Byelaws 1993 about steering, sailing and speed. The maximum penalty for breach of the byelaws is £1,000.
