This narrative report follows the Ending preventable deaths of mothers, babies and children approach paper published in 2021.
The report provides an overview of progress made in supporting global efforts to end preventable maternal, child and newborn deaths, in line with Sustainable Development Goal targets since 2021. This includes reporting against planned actions outlined in the approach paper.
The report highlights the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s multi-sectoral approach to:
- end preventable deaths through strengthening health systems
- promote comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, improved nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, and climate resilience in health
The report also provides case studies covering a range of countries including Nigeria, Malawi, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Somaliland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Pakistan.
