Hazlewood Hall Farms: application made to abstract (take) water

Hazlewood Hall Farms have applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number AN/035/0005/004 which authorises the abstraction of water from the Marsh Drain at Friston, Suffolk at National Grid Reference TM 42650 58690.

The variation applied for is to increase the following:

  • the instantaneous pump rate from 26 litres per second to 32 litres per second
  • the daily abstraction quantity from 2,273 cubic metres to 2,750 cubic metres
  • the annual abstraction quantity from 200,000 cubic metres to 250,000 cubic metres
  • the abstraction season will also be extended from November to February inclusive, to include March

The existing abstraction is subject to a flow cessation condition which will be updated and the proposed variation will also be subject to this.
