Details of the application

Hardingham Farms Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a new full licence to abstract water along the reach at National Grid Reference TG 02290 04972 to National Grid Reference TG 04369 05847 located on the River Blackwater.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 54 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,296 cubic metres a day
  • 75,000 cubic metres a year
  • Between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for the purpose of storage for subsequent spray irrigation. The abstraction is part of the wider River Yare catchment and will be subject to assessment under the Environment Agency’s Broadland Rivers Abstraction Licencing Strategy.
