Details of the application

Hanson Quarry Products Europe Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from Poole Formation sands at Hyde Pit, Wareham, Dorset between National Grid References (NGRs) SY 85620 89586, SY 86304 89142, SY 85902 88767 and SY 85250 89118 to transfer to drains at NGRs SY 85899 89001 and SY 87584 89108 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 67 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,598 cubic metres a day
  • 583,416 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 18.5 litres per second
  • All year.
