Details of the application

Hanson Quarry Products Europe Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a groundwater fed lagoon within the Poole Formation Sands near Wareham, Dorset at National Grid Reference (NGR) SY 86077 89034.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 364 cubic metres an hour
  • 8,652 cubic metres a day
  • 848,075 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for mineral washing and dust superession. Most of the abstracted water will be returned to the Poole Formation Sands.
