Hanson Quarry Products Europe Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from a sands and gravels aquifer at Pennycroft Quarry to transfer it to the River Ure and Light Water stream at National Grid References SE 30737 75743 and SE 30311 76488 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:
- 6,378 cubic metres an hour
- 63,779 cubic metres a day
- 23,279,335 cubic metres a year
- All year.
The water will be used for the dewatering of a quarry void to enable mineral extraction.
