Hanson Quarry Products Europe Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from a lake fed by groundwater (sands and gravels deposits associated with the River Thames) at Cassington Quarry, near Kidlington, Oxfordshire, between National Grid References SP 47650 11050 and SP 47305 11000.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 264 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,904 cubic metres a day
  • 871,200 cubic metres a year
  • All year.

The water will be used for mineral washing.
