H G Bliss Farms Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Old Croft River, Three Holes, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire at National grid Reference (NGR) TL 50307 97060.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 63 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,500 cubic metres a day
  • 90,000 cubic metres a year
  • between November and March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for filling a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation and/or subsequent transfer for discharge and re-abstraction for spray irrigation between April and September inclusive.

Transfer shall take place from the reservoir into the Old Croft River at NGR TL 50307 97060 and re-abstraction shall take place from the Old Croft River at National Grid References TF 50929 00554 and TL 50167 97653 at the rates of 90 cubic metres an hour, 2,160 cubic metres a day and 90,000 cubic metres a year.
