Use this guidance to help you fill in an application for a UK visa using most VAF forms for applying from outside the UK.

You need different guidance notes if you are applying:

  • for a visit visa on a VAF1 form
  • for a visa under the points-based system on VAF9
  • for a visa as the dependant of a person with a points-based system visa on VAF10
  • as a diplomat, diplomat’s dependant or member of a foreign government on official business using a VAF DIP
