The Partnership aims to accelerate the availability and accessibility of private green home finance, build market and consumer confidence, and ensure strong consumer protections. The Partnership will unite government, lenders, and energy industry experts to:
- identify barriers to the development of the Green Home Finance market
- prioritise and develop interventions to scale Green Home Finance availability
- share data and expertise to build the evidence base
- deliver tangible outputs and policy recommendations, and secure collective agreement to actions
Scope
The Partnership is governed by a Steering Group and supported by 4 industry chaired Working Groups.
The Steering Group is co-chaired by Martin McCluskey, Minister for Energy Consumers, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Dr Rhian-Mari Thomas OBE, CEO of the Green Finance Institute.
The Steering Group will meet quarterly to set strategic direction, shape Working Group objectives and deliverables, monitor progress and agree overarching recommendations. The Steering Group’s inaugural meeting took place on 27 January 2026.
The Working Groups, which will meet from February 2026, will scope and progress specific actions designed to address a critical challenge in scaling green home finance across the UK. The Working Groups will focus on:
- long term funding and incentives
- government backed loan initiatives
- driving demand and finance customer journeys
- consumer protection and standards
