Giffords Hall Farm Partnership LLP has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The first application (NPS/WR/044243) is for a full licence to abstract water from the River Glem at National Grid Reference (NGR) TL 77405 54834 near Gifford Hall, Wickhambrook, Newmarket, Suffolk.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 72 cubic metres an hour

  • 1,728 cubic metres a day

  • 20,000 cubic metres a year (total aggregated across both licences)

  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The second application (NPS/WR/045081) is for a full licence to abstract water from an un-named ditch at NGR TL 77805 54825 near Gifford Hall, Wickhambrook, Newmarket, Suffolk.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 18 cubic metres an hour

  • 432 cubic metres a day

  • 20,000 cubic metres a year (total aggregated across both licences)

  • between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for the initial filling and subsequent topping up of a conservation lake.
