George Wright Farms: applications made to abstract water

George Wright Farms has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of these applications in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
Application NPS/WR/040463 is for a full licence to abstract water from Tenpenny Brook, Frating at National Grid Reference (NGR) TM 07630 21968.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

144 cubic metres an hour

3,456 cubic metres a day

120,000 cubic metres a year
-
between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.
Application NPS/WR/040464 is to vary licence 8/37/26/*S/0103/R01 which authorises the abstraction of water from Holland Brook, Tendring and Weeley Brook, Great Bentley.
The variation applied for is to increase permitted abstraction volumes from Holland Brook at NGR TM 13517 24262 to:

240 cubic metres an hour

4,800 cubic metres a day

366,000 cubic metres a year

between 1 November and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The water from both licences will be used to fill a reservoir for subsequent spray irrigation. The annual volumes will be aggregated together to a maximum of 120,000 cubic metres a year.
