Galliford Try Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from tidal flat deposits from six points at Woolston Wastewater Treatment Works at National Grid References SU 43538 10268, SU 43504 10268, SU 43508 10283, SU 43537 10285, SU 43512 10251, and SU 43537 10252.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 126 cubic metres an hour

  • 3,024 cubic metres a day

  • 1,103,760 cubic metres a year

Abstraction will take place over a 12 month period until 21/07/2026, for the purpose of dewatering to enable construction of a storm tank at the treatment works. All water abstracted will be discharged to sewer at National Grid Reference SU 43502 10289.
