Details of the application

G & D Matthews Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application, in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the South Forty Foot Drain between National Grid References TF 16688 25562 and TF 16731 25175, and between TF 16750 25021 and TF 16942 23616, and from the Higher Lode Drain between TF 17910 28249 and TF 18627 28172.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

Between TF 16688 25562 and TF 16731 25175:

  • 100 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,400 cubic metres a day
  • 20,000 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 27.7 litres per second
  • Between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year

Between TF 16750 25021 and TF 16942 23616, and TF 17910 28249 and TF 18627 28172*:

  • 100 cubic metres an hour
  • 2,400 cubic metres a day
  • 40,000 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 27.7 litres per second
  • Between 1 April and 31 October inclusive in each year *Quantities listed are for each of the above reaches.

The water will be used for spray irrigation and filling of reservoirs for subsequent spray irrigation.
