Applies to England

The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 from United Utilities Water Limited.

• Application number: 017180567/V001

• Regulated facility type: Lennox Gate Pumping Station

• Regulated facility location: Lennox Gate Pumping Station, Lennox Gate, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY4 3JR

• National Grid Reference discharge point: SD 29295 32455

• Receiving environment: Irish Sea

• Effluent type: Screened storm sewage

• Volume: A pass forward flow at the storm overflow setting of 1,450 litres per second

• Further information: The variation is required due to the replacement of the pumping station’s long sea outfall from 1,200 mm to 2,100 mm diameter pipe. As part of the replacement, the outfall’s discharge location will be moved from its current location by 500 metres to a point below the Mean Low Water Spring (MLWS) level. This will involve a move of the outfall’s discharge point from SD 2980 3245 to SD 29295 32455. The outfall is shared with another United Utilities asset at Harrowside pumping station (permit reference: 017180568). The permit for this asset will also be varied (permit application reference: 017180568/V001).
