This paper looks at the size, density and layout of cities in the UK and the infrastructure that supports them. The report is in 2 parts:

  • an analysis of current urban form and infrastructure in the UK, looking at the relationship between them and summarising the pros and cons of the trends that have developed
  • an analysis of possible future options for the development of existing places and new developments

This working paper was commissioned as part of the Foresight future of cities project.
