Freight Innovation Fund fourth round winning projects

Updated 22 September 2025

The fourth round of Freight Innovation Fund winning projects was announced in September 2025. The following 15 bids were selected to design a real-world trial plan addressing sector challenges.

1Timetable

1Timetable has developed a collaborative data sharing platform with superior operational timetable visualisation and validation, for sharing across the industry to help freight operators and Network Rail deliver a more efficient railway.

Awarded: £20,000

Anteam

Anteam has created an artificial intelligence (AI) tool for freight enterprises and fleet operators that identifies empty journeys and optimises loads to reduce road freight miles, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency.

Awarded: £20,000

BEAT

BEAT has developed ‘ZECURE’, a secure data exchange platform designed for freight operators to automate manual coordination between transport management and telematics systems.

Awarded: £20,000

Berkeley Coachworks

Berkeley Coachworks has developed a lightweight trailer using advanced composites and aerodynamic design to help fleet operators lower costs and reduce carbon in both manufacturing and on-road operations.

Awarded: £20,000

Esitu

Esitu will test a patented compression garment for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers, developed by Anatomic Focus, which is designed to improve circulation, reduce fatigue and enhance alertness. It will evaluate physiological and cognitive performance in real-world conditions.

Awarded: £20,000

GoLink Advisory Group is trialling a high speed rail freight operation for couriers delivering parcels, which works alongside electric goods vehicles to provide an alternative to road and air freight operations.

Awarded: £20,000

KleanDrive

KleanDrive has created a modular, zero emission retrofit system that converts diesel trucks into fully electric vehicles, helping fleet operators to decarbonise and reduce their operational costs.

Awarded: £20,000

Optimal cities

Optimal Cities has developed a geospatial platform to allow ports, cities and logistics operators to identify sites of risk to better ensure the safer movement of people, vehicles and cargo.

Awarded: £20,000

OptimiseAI

OptimiseAI is delivering a digital twin platform at a depot that integrates fixed infrastructure with fleet movements, to minimise emissions and optimise the use of renewable energy.

Awarded: £20,000

Rhevia

Rhevia is building a movement intelligence platform using advanced radar technology that provides ports and operators with a predictive picture of how trailers, vehicles and people flow through their environments.

Awarded: £20,000

SLANT Sustainable Technologies

SLANT Sustainable Technologies is trialling an electric trailer system to help cycle couriers carry more cargo, more easily, without using motor vehicles. The system has an integrated motor to assist with heavy loads.

Awarded: £20,000

SpatialCortex Technology

SpatialCortex Technology has created a wearable sensor and AI-driven safety solution to help prevent musculoskeletal injuries among manual handling staff and machinery operators working in the freight sector.

Awarded: £20,000

Supply Chain Analysis

Supply Chain Analysis has built an AI-powered planning and scheduling tool to improve the handling of trailers in ferry operations, helping reduce congestion, wait times and unnecessary trailer movements.

Awarded: £20,000

TaiSan

TaiSan has developed a polymer electrolyte material in order to make sodium batteries lighter, safer and smaller. Its focus is a feasibility study to enable the technology to be used on electric forklifts.

Awarded: £20,000

Zizo

Zizo has created ‘Zizo Confluence’ to simplify access to data to allow clients to drive improvements in decarbonisation, improve operational efficiency and develop new products and services.

Awarded: £20,000
