FOI 21/1202

30th November 2021

Dear,

Thank you for your email dated 1st November 2021 where you requested the total number of events and deaths by batch number for the COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca, following on from your previous FOI request (FOI 21/735) for this information. You also requested date of vaccine administration, batch number and location administered (postcode or vaccination centre) for all events associated with a fatal outcome. This new request has been logged under FOI 21/1202.

The information requested is withheld under Section 35 of the FOI Act. Section 35 of the FOI Act protects the internal deliberative process as it relates to government policy making. The MHRA and Department of Health will be undertaking discussions around the level of data and associated fields that should be placed in the public domain. Until this policy decision has been agreed we are unable to release additional data beyond what is included in the weekly summary of Yellow Card reporting.

As stated previously, the MHRA do not routinely collect information on the location of where the vaccines were administered and therefore, we are unable to provide this. The MHRA only collect details on the location of the individual that reported the Yellow Card. For information relating to any issues with vaccine administration please contact the UK Health Security Agency.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be submitted within two months of the date of this response; and can be addressed to this email address.

Yours sincerely,

FOI Team,

Vigilance and Risk Management of Medicines Division
