Details of the application

Forterra Building Products Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Old Bedford including the Middle Level catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 70 litres per second
  • 250 cubic metres an hour
  • 6,000 cubic metres a day
  • 648,153 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • an area between National Grid References TL 21648 97507; TL 24352 97061; TL 23305 96466; and TL 21447 96907
  • from abstraction location underground strata comprising sands and gravels at Whittlesey Quarry, Peterborough.

The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of dewatering
