1. Freedom of Information Act: Request for information on Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA) activities
Thank you for your email of 23 April 2026 requesting information about climate-related staffing and consultancy spend at the GCA. You asked for the following information for each financial year from 2022/23 to 2024/25:

The number of posts (headcount and FTE where recorded) with job titles including the terms Climate, Net Zero, Sustainability, Carbon, Emissions, Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change, Climate Action, Climate Policy, Climate Programme, Climate Project, Climate Data, Climate Reporting, Climate Adaptation, Climate Resilience, Energy and Climate, Sustainable Procurement, Green Finance, or Green.

The total employment cost of any posts identified above, including salary and employer on-costs (for example, pension and National Insurance).

Total expenditure on external consultants, companies or contractors where the cost centre, project code, budget line or purchase description include the terms listed above. This includes, but is not limited to, spending on professional services, consultancy, advisory services or specialist support.
2. General right of access to information held by public authorities
Under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, anyone making a request for information to the GCA, as a public authority, is entitled to be informed in writing whether it holds that information, and if so, to be supplied with it.

We will aim to deal with your internal review request within 20 working days of receipt or, if that is not possible, advise you of a date when we expect to complete the review.
