FOI Ref 0591-14 gives amount spent by the FCO’s Legal Directorate on external law firms and barristers (excluding VAT) over the fiscal periods 2009 to 2014. It explains that it is not possible to calculate the amount for the FCO as a whole as there is no central record and calculating the figures would exceed the cost threshold as set out in Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act
