The pilots are part of the government’s commitment to encourage greater participation in our democracy and to modernise the voting process.
Electors in Cambridge, North Hertfordshire, and Tunbridge Wells will be able to vote early at voting hubs. Electors in Milton Keynes will be able to vote at a voting hub on polling day.
To enable the pilots to go ahead, Orders must be drafted. Orders published here were signed by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary Samantha Dixon. The Orders set out how the conduct rules for the running of local elections are to be changed to accommodate the flexible voting pilots.
